Exciting and Elegant Judean Hills Merlot

In 2003, the Itzhaki family fulfilled their long-held vision by founding the Tulip Winery, an expression of their great love of wine and huge love of people. This was a true milestone – combining fine, high quality wines with a committed contribution to the community. The hillside in Kfar Tikva, a small and pastoral settlement for residents with special needs, was the perfect and most natural setting for building the winery. The winery’s inspiring and thriving model of employing members of the community and providing a platform for their integration into the labor market just like ordinary people, formed an extraordinary, strong, inseparable and rooted connection.

Tulip’s 2021 Merlot is a new and current interpretation of a classic varietal. The grapes were harvested during the early morning hours, and after meticulous selection in the winery, macerated and fermented for 10 days in contact with the skins to release the full flavors of the grapes.

After pressing, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation in barrique barrels for another four months to ensure slow aging and optimal development.  During the aging process 5% Carignan and 5% Viognier were added to calibrate the wine to the unique “Tulip” style.

The aroma is filled with red plums, cherries, red raspberry, chocolate and mint. On the palate you’ll detect plum, mint, roasted coffee along with a pleasant herbaceous taste.  The long finish is pleasant, soft and spiced.  Kosher, Kosher for Passover. Non-Mevushal.
